Donald McCain finished third in the trainers' championship behind Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson for the past two seasons (2010/2011 & 2011/2012). For the past three seasons he has been the top trainer numerically.
McCain has sent out more winners than either Nicholls or Henderson. (121 up to and including February 24 2013).
Donald has already trained one John Smith's Grand National winner, Ballabriggs in 2011, and sent out six Cheltenham Festival victors.
With Donald’s first century in only his fifth season and the number of winners increasing year after year.
Cheltenham Festival winners have been plentiful with Cloudy Lane, Whiteoak, Peddlers Cross and Ballabriggs.
Success on the Flat with Overturn, successful in the Northumberland Plate in 2010 and the Chester Cup in 2011, and Ile De Re, who captured the same two heritage handicaps in 2012.
