Meet The Team

In Donald's words 'Over the past 10 years Adrian has become the single most important part of the team along with a friend and confidant.'

As a work rider Adrian is irreplaceable and was the making of horses such as Peddler's Cross and Cinders And Ashes. Without exception he leads all racecourse gallops and serious pieces of work which ensures it is always done correctly. Importantly as a judge, if he says one is nice or no good then he is rarely wrong. He is also the first man to take charge of educating the youngsters in the jumping department.

Adrian represents Donald regularly at the races, jockeys rely on his advice and feel free to ring him to find out more about the horses they are riding. With regards to the jockeys, this goes to the extent of them saying 'never mind you, what does Ado say?'

His horse to follow for the season is Jungle Jack.

Brian Hughes, a man that needs no introduction. Brian is our Stable Jockey and a huge asset to our team. He is 2 time Champion Jockey and managed to ride over 200 winners in a season, making 2021-2022 his best season to date. Not only is he our Stable Jockey but he also has a yard with his wife Lucy and a newly installed gallop where he stables some of our horses who are on holiday and starts them back in training for us. 

Theo has worked with us since the ripe age of 16. Working his way up the ranks, from Amateur to Conditionaland now a fully fledged Professional. He has taken up the role as second jockey and says his highlight thus far was riding his first treble. His horse to follow for the season is Easter Junction.

We are very lucky to have a head lad as experienced as Tommy Phelan on the team. Tommy has had over 100 winners under rules and obviously a wealth of experience. I think it's fair to say Tommy is probably the most cheerful member of the team and the one you can hear before seeing. Don't ever change Tommy!

When asked of his best day's racing, he could not decide whether it was riding his first winner for Jonjo O'Neill or looking after Iris's Gift when he won at Cheltenham. His old favourites include Wyck Hill but more currently is Waspy who is also his horse to follow for the season.

Ludo is one of the longest serving members of the team, having been here for over 10 years. I don't think that anyone in the Racing Industry could disagree that he is one of the best Travelling Head Lads in the country. His attention to detail regarding not only the welfare of the horses in his care but most notably his 'turnout' is second to none.

In his spare time he is a keen and accomplished runner and has a love of motorbikes! The motorbike has been recently usurped by Ludo's now favourite - his new daughter Camille.

Mark has been here at Bankhouse for nearly 10 years. An excellent horseman with a wealth of experience. His best days racing to date was a treble at Perth courtesy of Dear Sire, Secret Escape and Valley Of Milan. There is no question that his favourite horse was Lofgren and his horse to follow for the season is Mackenberg.

Peter has been with us for 3 years now. He came to us highly recommened by Colin Bowe, for whom he worked a few years. Peter is one of our 5lb conditionals and the highlight of his career so far is riding 3 winners in a month on See The Sea, whilst recording 2 track records and the fastest 2 miles over jumps in the UK. Peter's horse to follow for the season is Old Blue Eyes.

Charlie has been working with us since he was 14. He is now one of our Conditional Jockeys and has ridden multpile winners already, including one on the flat aboard See The Sea and the Bet 365 Scottish County Handicap Hurdle (CLASS 2) aboard Collingham, which would also be his favourite moment in his career so far. His horse to follow for the season is One More Stroke, who he rides out every morning. 

Alongside his brother Charlie, Will has been with us since he was 14 and is now one of our Conditional Jockeys. He has ridden multiple winners for us, along with outside winners. His favourite moment in his career so far was his first winner  on Bird On The Wire. Will's horse to follow for the season is Maximillian, who he rides out everyday.   

Abbie is one of our 5lb claiming conditionals. She has ridden both on the flat and over jumps as an amateur before she made the decision to go conditional. Her highlight so far would be riding a winner on Midlands National day on ITV for Charlie Longsdon. She is also the rider and groom of Minella Trump who ran in the Grand National last season. Abbie enjoys re-homing some of our retired ex-racehorses and finds them the best homes possible for their second careers. Her horse to follow for the season is Spectacular Genius who she rides out everyday.  

Lizzie has been with us for around 2 years now. She started of showjumping to a high level before she came to us but got the hang of racing very quickly. She has recently got her Amatuer license  to ride on the flat. Her favourite moment so far was having her first ride at Doncaster aboard Never No Trouble. Lizzie's horse to follow for the season is Wild Grouse.

Jasmin is in charge of the feeding, an extremely important job which she is relishes. She is also one of the work-riding team. Jasmin now has an ex-racehorse of ours who was in our Donald Mccain Racing Club called Handy Hollow, who she rode throughout his time in training here. Her horse to follow for the season is Barrichello, who she also rides out everyday.
