Meet The Team

In Donald's words 'Over the past 10 years Adrian has become the single most important part of the team along with a friend and confidant.'

As a work rider Adrian is irreplaceable and was the making of horses such as Peddler's Cross and Cinders And Ashes. Without exception he leads all racecourse gallops and serious pieces of work which ensures it is always done correctly. Importantly as a judge, if he says one is nice or no good then he is rarely wrong. He is also the first man to take charge of educating the youngsters in the jumping department.

Adrian represents Donald regularly at the races, jockeys rely on his advice and feel free to ring him to find out more about the horses they are riding. With regards to the jockeys, this goes to the extent of them saying 'never mind you, what does Ado say?'

His horse to follow for the season is Jungle Jack.

Ludo is one of the longest serving members of the team, having been here for over 10 years. I don't think that anyone in the Racing Industry could disagree that he is one of the best Travelling Head Lads in the country. His attention to detail regarding not only the welfare of the horses in his care but most notably his 'turnout' is second to none.

In his spare time he is a keen and accomplished runner and has a love of motorbikes! The motorbike has been recently usurped by Ludo's now favourite - his new daughter Camille.

Brian Hughes, a man that needs no introduction. Brian is our Stable Jockey and a huge asset to our team. He is 3 time Champion Jockey and managed to ride over 200 winners in a season, making 2021-2022 his best season to date. Not only is he our Stable Jockey but he also has a yard with his wife Lucy and a newly installed gallop where he stables some of our horses who are on holiday and starts them back in training for us. 

Theo has worked with us since the ripe age of 16. Working his way up the ranks, from Amateur to Conditionaland now a fully fledged Professional. He has taken up the role as second jockey and says his highlight thus far was riding in the Grand National. 

His horse to follow for this year is Count Of Vendome.

We are very lucky to have a head lad as experienced as Tommy Phelan on the team. Tommy has had over 100 winners under rules and obviously a wealth of experience. I think it's fair to say Tommy is probably the most cheerful member of the team and the one you can hear before seeing. Don't ever change Tommy!

When asked of his best day's racing, he could not decide whether it was riding his first winner for Jonjo O'Neill or looking after Iris's Gift when he won at Cheltenham. His horse to follow is Jiair Madrik.

Charlie has been working with us since he was 14. He is now one of our Conditional Jockeys and has ridden multpile winners already, including one on the flat aboard See The Sea and the Bet 365 Scottish County Handicap Hurdle (CLASS 2) aboard Collingham, which would also be his favourite moment in his career so far. His horse to follow for the season is One More Stroke, who he rides out every morning. 

Alongside his brother Charlie, Will has been with us since he was 14 and is now one of our Conditional Jockeys. He has ridden multiple winners for us, along with outside winners. His favourite moment in his career so far was his first winner  on Bird On The Wire. Will's horse to follow for the season is Maximillian, who he rides out everyday.   

Abbie is an ex conditional jockey who is now a head person and runs her own weekend. She is also in charge of the re training and re homing of all our ex racehorses, which has been lovely to see all the horses go onto there next careers and forever homes, some of which are competing at olympic level. Her horse to follow for the season is Minella Trump who shes rides out every day.  

Lizzie has been with us for around 3 years now. She started of showjumping to a high level before she came to us but got the hang of racing very quickly. She has recently got her Amatuer license  to ride on the flat. Her favourite moment so far was having her first ride at Doncaster aboard Never No Trouble. Lizzie's horse to follow for the season is John Betjeman.

Heidi has been working here for a number of years now since finishing school. She has progressed massively throughout her time here and has a number of importnant roles. Not only does she hold her Amatuer license but she is also in charge of feeding all the horses and in charge of her own weekend. Heidi's favourite horse is Roses All The Way
