In Donald's words 'Over the past 10 years Adrian has become the single most important part of the team along with a friend and confidant.'
As a work rider Adrian is irreplaceable and was the making of horses such as Peddler's Cross and Cinders And Ashes. Without exception he leads all racecourse gallops and serious pieces of work which ensures it is always done correctly. Importantly as a judge, if he says one is nice or no good then he is rarely wrong. He is also the first man to take charge of educating the youngsters in the jumping department.
Adrian represents Donald regularly at the races, jockeys rely on his advice and feel free to ring him to find out more about the horses they are riding. With regards to the jockeys, this goes to the extent of them saying 'never mind you, what does Ado say?'
Alan has been Head Lad since January and was previously working in a senior position. He has a gained a wealth of experience in some of the top yards in both Ireland and the UK and in his own words 'has worked in every stable bar Bethlehem!'
Having also had over 70 rides in races he is a great judge. His hopes for the coming season are consistency and some big winners perhaps courtesy of one of his favorite horses, Goobinator.
TRAVELLING HEAD LAD
Ludo is one of the longest serving members of the team, having been here for over 10 years. I don't think that anyone in the Racing Industry could disagree that he is one of the best Travelling Head Lads in the country. His attention to detail regarding not only the welfare of the horses in his care but most notably 'turnout' is second to none.
In his spare time he is a keen and accomplished runner and has a new love of motorbikes!
ASSISTANT TRAVELLING HEAD LAD
Mark has been here at Bankhouse for nearly 6 years. An excellent horseman with a wealth of experience. His best days racing to date was a treble at Perth courtesy of Dear Sire, Secret Escape and Valley Of Milan. There is no question that his favourite horse is Lofgren and his horse to follow for the season is Mackenberg.
ASSISTANT HEAD GROOM
Lisa is enjoying her more supervisory roll and is making a really good job of it too. Her favourite horse was Lastbutnotleast who has now retired to stud. Lisa is looking forward to her offspring and hopes they are as good as their mum when they arrive. Closely following Lisa, when on yard duties, is her little shadow - 'Nook' her very loyal chocolate lab
Her best day's racing was Lastbutnotleast winning at Doncaster and she also loved leading up in the Grand National. Current favourites are Minella Trump (aka Mike) and Fin And Game. Lisa's horse to follow is Minella trump
FEED WOMAN/WORK RIDER
Jasmin is in charge of the feeding, an exteremly important job which she is relishing. She is also one of the work-riding team. Her favorite horse is the Racing Club's stalwart, Handy Hollow and her most exciting days racing so far was leading up Federici in the Becher Chase, a horse she regularly rides at home. For this season Jasmin names See The Sea as her horse to follow.
Lorcan has been Conditional jockey here for the past 3 years and has had nearly 700 rides and over 50 winners. His best day's racing was when he won the Eider Chase at the age of only 17. Lorcan's favourite horse is Prince Khurram and his one to watch for the season is Goobinator.
Theo alongside Lorcan is one of the Conditional jockey's. He is very experienced having come through pony racing and then riding as an amateur, has worked here since leaving school and importantly still has a valuable 7lb claim. His highlight so far is winning on Same Circus at Aintree and his horse to follow is Presentandcounting.
A valued member of the team and possibly one of the tallest jockeys in the weighing room.
Abbie is the yard's amateur having been one of the top lady rider's in the country for the past couple of seasons. Her highlight so far was winning on Diamonds A Dancing at Carlisle on the same day as her sister Ella won on Dark Confidant. Abbie's favorite horse is Chti Balko but I think Danceintothelight has a very special place for Abbie and the majority of racing followers in the north could not help but enjoy Abbie and him blazing a trail. He is now retired and Abbie is retraining him for further adventures.
Her horse to follow for this season is Ottonian
Ella like all the yard's jockeys came up through the pony racing ranks and won on her first ride under rules on Dark Confidant at Carlisle only a few days after her 16th birthday. She has taken the flat racing route and is now the yard apprentice. Her best day's racing was riding a winner at Doncaster but I think it fair to say she had a great day at Cheltenham this year leading up her horse Navajo Pass in the Triumph Hurdle when he finished 4th.
She names the 2 year old Nacho as her horse to follow for this season.
Nick has been here for a few seasons and is a valuable member of the ground based team. He loves going racing and his best day to date was Desert Cry winning at Carlisle along with leading him up at the Grand National meeting. His favourite horse is Hills Of Dubai and his horse to follow is Heartbreak Kid.
Ellie led up her first winner at Sedgefield in 2018 and that was Princess Mononoke who she had been riding at the time. Her other top rated day was leading up at the Grand National meeting.
Her favourite horse to ride is Two Blondes and her horse to follow for the forthcoming season is L'il Sebastian.
Gabbie is one of our ground based team and loves going racing. Her favourite trips are overnight to Musselburgh (did not dare ask why!) She loves Federici and her horse to follow for the season is Goobinator
Georgeah tends to look after a lot of the fillies/mares in the yard who she calls 'her girls'. Her best day's racing was leading up See The Sea at Bangor when she won for the second time. Georgeah loves going racing but finds it very nerve wracking particularly if one of her girls is running. Her favourite horse is See The Sea and guess who her horse to follow for the season is - yes, it's her girl See The Sea again!
April is starting her 3rd season with us and is a valued member of the team. Her best day's racing so far has been a trip all the way down to Newton Abbott with Ink Master where he won both the best turned out and the race. Her favourite horse is Chelsea's Boy as she loves riding him and her horse for this season is Onthefrontfoot who she has looked after since her first day here.
Pete is one our very experienced work-riding team, having had around 75 rides and several winners. One of his best days at Bankhouse was when Noah And The Ark won at Worcester but this was a bitter sweet success as Noah was then sold to race in America.
Pete's current favourite horse is Ofcourseiwill and his horse to follow is O'Hanrahan Bridge when he goes novice chasing.
Toby came into racing after working in showjumping. His best day's racing to date was when he had his first ride as an amateur at Newcastle back in January. His favourite horse is Youracert and his horse to follow for the season is Mackenberg.
For regular visitors to Cartmel racecourse Lizzie might be a familiar face as she has worked there for the past couple of years managing the stables. To date her best day's racing was leading up her first winner, Minella Trump at Sedgefield along with winning best turned out. Her favourite horse is Gray Day who Lizzie rides most days and her horse to follow for the season is Goobinator.
We are very lucky to have a work-rider as experienced as Tommy Phelan on the team. Tommy has had over 100 winners under rules and obviously a wealth of experience. Think it fair to say Tommy is probably the most cheerful member of the team and the one you can hear before seeing. Don't ever change Tommy!
When asked of his best day's racing, he could not decide whether it was riding his first winner for John Joe O'Neill or looking after Iris's Gift when he won at Cheltenham. His old favourites include Wyck Hill but more currently is Gaelik Coast who is also his horse to follow for the season.
Sean came to us while he was still at school and on completion of his course at The British Racing School in Newmarket he came back full time. His riding has come on in leaps and bounds and he looks to have a great future in racing - if that fails he also appears to be excelling as a bit of a chef!
His best day racing was watching Criag Star running at Carlisle and his favourite horse is one of the yard's characters Our Rodney. Our Rodney is also Sean's horse to watch for the season.
