The jumps season is starting to heat up, and I thought now would be a good time to introduce you to my new weekly blog.
The weather is turning, and you can see by our entries that we're trying to run a few horses. We're getting busier, and it's an exciting time of year. The early signs have been pretty positive.
We've got lots of horses, especially younger ones, in the team, and we're still cautious about where we go because some tracks are still quick. Because of that, we're going for some of the more competitive races, but they're all holding their own and running well.
Everyone knows Theo [Gillard] has replaced Brian [Hughes] as stable jockey. He's been here a long time, and it seemed the right time to make that change. He was always going to end up stable jockey because he'd been taking his chances well.
With a young team of horses, it feels like the right step to get on with it. I've always enjoyed having my own people and team around me, almost like a closed shop, and I'm enjoying the process.
We do have a lot of youngsters - there aren't that many older horses around the place - so hopefully there's a nice one or two in there amongst them.
